$250, month 25 of a 24-month warranty
I owned a Garmin watch I loved. Took it ocean swimming once and it drowned. I called Garmin. They were sympathetic, but the warranty had ended a few weeks earlier. What I didn't know: if the credit card I'd bought it on had added another 12 months of warranty, I never checked. By the time I learned, that claim window had also passed.
Lesson:Most premium credit cards add 12 to 24 months on top of the manufacturer warranty. You have to know which card paid, and you have to file before that window closes too.
